A friend of mine is looking for someone to pick up his daughter (in West Cary) after school and drive her to Apex 3-4 times a week. They don't need babysitting or dinner prep or anything else - just a responsible person to get her from his house to gymnastics.

Does anyone have ideas about where to look? I found a couple of services, but they don't operate in his area. Most nanny/babysitters want something for the whole evening. He had a neighborhood high school student doing it, but she has a conflict now, and he's having trouble finding another one. It would be perfect for a responsible high school student looking to earn an easy $40-$50/week.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I guess car pooling it out ... does he live in a subdivision? Ours has a website where you can post messages on an online board (kind of like CD) - does he have someplace like that, where he can see if there is someone in the neighborhood who can do it (ie another HS student).

Hi,

Yes - his subdivision has a listserv. That's where they found the high school student who used to help them out. I think they're having trouble finding another one though. And yes, I believe they asked other parents at the gym, and carpooling wasn't an option.
