its been our personal preference to not get married at the moment . I'm extremely young and he's only three years older than I am and we both have decided to be at least 28 before we get married . I'm seeking a counselor to strengthen the relationship, but thank you for your input .

My niece and her now-husband lived together for some time and even had one of their babies before they married. They've been in couples counseling on and off over the years, "fine tuning" as they call it. They have a solid relationship, talk about things, compromise, take turns...

They are both strong people who now and then need a mediator to help them hear one another and to work out solutions that work for both of them.

My hat's off to you in seeking couples therapy to address issues. Also applaud waiting until you are older to marry. Many people grow through significant changes in their twenties, figuring out who they are, how the are going to earn a living, what's important to them... Not all marriages can survive that.

Keeping a good thought for you two.
