My husband and 9 month old daughter and I will be moving to the Triangle area in the summer. I will be working at UNC, and my husband will be working from home while looking for a job in the IT field.

We are looking for a very high quality daycare in the Chapel Hill area, or between Chapel Hill and Durham or Chapel Hill and Raleigh. Based on their website, we really liked the Chapel Hill Daycare Center, but it looks like their waitlist is over a year out. We also really liked the website of The Little School in Hillsborough, but the location seems like it might be inconvenient.

We are looking for a daycare that focuses on warmth, play, creativity, and fun, rather than a specific curriculum. We are looking for someplace that would have low ratios of students to teachers (ideally 4 to 1 or less).

Does anyone have experience with area daycares? Does anyone have experience with The Little School?

Thanks for any help!

lack of response on this forum does not mean what you are looking for is not out there. obviously with many professionals in the area, they expect and find child care of the highest quality. perhaps someone will direct you to a better resource. good luck

We have a child finishing up her second year at the little school, and we have been extremely happy there. Note that they are about 3 miles north of Chapel Hill off NC86, and not all the way into Hillsborough. They are also opening up a campus at Duke this summer, which may or may not already be full.

We also considered Kin in Durham, which is very small and has a neat program. We were leaning that direction but dragged our feet too long and the spot filled. Downside there is you have to make a year long commitment.
