Hi. My family is planning a move to the Durham area within the next year. We are planning to visit several times to scout out the land and don't know where to start.
I need to be within a 30 minute drive (or so) to Duke and/or UNC Chapel Hill as I will likely be working at/attending Duke and my daughter will be attending one or the other.
We currently live in an urban area and are looking for a more rural environment with 2+ acres (room for a horse). My youngest will be starting High School, so a good school district is also important.
We are selling a fully paid-for house (approx 500K) and hope to spend in the 300K or so neighborhood.
Any suggestions for how/where to start looking around, including local real estate brokers?
If you want rural that's near Duke and UNC (I presume yur daughter would be living at home?), look in western Durham county or Northeastern Orange (there are parts of the city of Durham in Orange county, and it gets really rural pretty fast).
