Does anyone know where I can purchase some shrubs?
I'm looking for a very specific type...

Schip (or Skip) Laurel - West Coast Upright variety (clone)

I need roughly 6 or so and I'm willing to drive a little if necessary.

It seems like the places I find are wholesale only and won't sell to the general public.

Any ideas?

Just an update...

I ended up getting "Supreme" laurels through Trees2Go. I purchased 9 plants total and had Trees2Go install them. They did a fantastic job and they have amazing customer service. Highly recommended.

From what I could find on the web, Prunus laurocerasus 'S & S Supreme' a.k.a. S & S Supreme Cherrylaurel is a cultivar introduced by Hugh Strain of S & S Nurseries.

I've found a few references on the web that indicate that "west coast skip laurel" is just another name for Prunus laurocerasus 'S & S Supreme', but I can't confirm that it is true. However, both are described as vertical habit with narrower leaves than a Schip Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus "Schipkaensis").

Here's some sites with pictures of the Supreme Laurel...

I have always found that any of the local nurseries will order any plant one wants if they don't have it in stock. I've never had a problem with that.

I agree. I've found that Homewood Nursery is particularly good for that.

I agree - that was one place we used when we lived in north Raleigh. More recently, I've found the small, local nurseries can even go a step further - as the folks who run them personally select the individual plants at the wholesalers rather than just ordering off a list.
