As MLS visits Raleigh, only question is not ‘If?’ but ‘When?’ - DeCock - NewsObserver.com

WakeMed Soccer Park is too small in its current configuration, but it could be moved up to 25,000-seats.

They are also talk about maybe building a new stadium downtown. I wish RBC/PNC was built downtown. We need something like that downtown.

There was a comment on the news site that said that the market was too small. I honestly don't think so. Soccer is an international sport, both historically and popularly. I think people will flock if the right facility were built/renovated for this sport. I hope MLS does come!

I think it would be great. I remember when the Hurricanes moved here folks said they would not last as Raleigh is not a hockey town. I live about an hour east of there and we head up to an occasional game and would definitely go see an mls game. That whole area is pretty soccer crazy and I think it could work. The womens pro team was one of the better as far as attendance goes before the league folded
