Okay after being here close to a year I still have not found a decent pedicure and manicure place I can call home Can someone recommend a place in the Apex/cary area that is CLEAN and does a good job? I would like someplace that takes a bit of time with you as well. Thanks!

State found many totally unsanitary.

Might be best to do it yourself to avoid transmission of disease.

I have a wonderful place called The Lotus Nail. Sorry to tell you...its near CarMax in North Raleigh.

The owner is a wonderful Vietnamese lady that went home to Vietnam about 2 years ago to visit her mom. At the same time, my daughter and her boyfriend planned a trip to Vietnam (hubby kept saying that he worked hard to STAY OUT of Vietnam and now daughter WANTED to go there). Nigh invited my daughter to spend a few days with her in Vietnam to see how the people live. Not only did she introduce my daughter to her family but they also fed her!

She has her daughter in law and both sons working there.

She does my nails and toes and I adore her!!!

I've never even had a hangnail in the YEARS she has been doing my mani's and pedi's.

SF...what do YOU know of manicures and pedicures??? LOL.

Vicki

Yes, and there are plenty of good ones as well. I've never had a problem in the many years I've gotten them. I've just been very choosy.

I live by the place on New Hope Church Rd that the state cited. It was on WRAL.

My wife once used a clean place in Knightdale.

The state inspector mentioned that many salons were not practicing good hygiene, especially in the foot baths.

Haven't tried any personally though.

Take it easy, Vicki.

So due to TWO that you know about, you think that it's fair to tell someone that they are putting their health at risk from using any of nail salon?

Do you have any idea how many there are and what a range of facilities they cover? Yes, some are unsafe, use half a brain and some common sense and you can find good, clean ones. Health inspection results are available on line.

Have you tried the one in Holly Springs...the one by Lowe's? I thought it was pretty nice...have only been once. Although I still am getting over the sticker shock...in CA I never paid more than $15! And the place was nice! Of course, there was one on every corner...

There was some discussion that the "A" grade really didn't guarantee good sanitation like the "A" restaurant grade does.

It's not the health dept that inspects these places and some of the nastiness in the foot baths could only be detected by lab tests of the water.

They are more expensive here. I can't beleive some of the prices I've heard are common in other locations. I've never paid less then 35$ for a pedicure down here.
