Every week I see info on neat classes, activity, workshop ect after the event.

This past weekend I missed a few events I would have loved that I didn't know about right here in Raleigh. (kayak demo, dog event at Leith Toyota ect)

What online sites are there that list upcoming events for the area???

I check the meetup.com site, and this one. There's also the N&O/triangle.com and Cary Citizen/N&O websites that list events. WRAL and WNCN also seem to have some listings (though I'd suggest filtering out movie listings - some sites seem to list showings!). In the end, I think the best strategy is to find local sites that cater to your interests - I have the events at the Museum of science bookmarked, and check regularly. Of course, if you're like me, you've got way too many bookmarks and are always thinking, 'how did I miss that!?'.

Triangle.com and Yelp.com are my faves.

Google "NC state fairgrounds" and "calendar," and you'll see what's coming up all year at the fairgrounds in Raleigh.

Sorry you missed the kayak demo. I actually found out about it the old low tech way . . . an ad was placed on my windshield in the Upper Neuse parking lot while I was on a run.

I find out about a lot of events by "liking" organizations of interest on Facebook.

It's a shame the N&O no longer publishes that big weekend guide they used to have every Friday. That thing was great for finding out what was going on in the area.

These days I usually just pick up a copy of the Independent Weekly to find out what's going on.

The Indy will email it to you each week, too.
