best places to stay (for a week) (Raleigh, Durham: chapel, college)

I am seeking recommendation for area to stay for a short trip. Which cities in the area have nice and lively downtown with good food?

Chapel Hill and Durham have lively downtown areas and good food. No doubt due to the college student customers.

Depends on what you like to do and your age range. We prefer downtown Raleigh, it's a little less "college student" with several nightclubs and bars. Chapel Hill downtown is almost exclusively College students. Durham has some wonderful restaurants but not as much of the nightclubs.
