I just moved to Durham this last month and last night someone stole my moped. It is a black/orange Honda Ruckus. If anyone in the Durham/Raleigh/Chapel Hill/Cary area sees this bike, could they please call the none emergency 911 hotline and report it. The number is 919-560-4600.

Is that a Ruckus 49cc or the 250? I know that the former would be unregistered but the latter might be easier to track.

Well, the Ruckus is a more distinct scooter than the usual over-plasticized rides (been a scooterist for ~15 years now), so it might be more readily noticed.

Keep your ownership info on you just in case you come across it or someone reports a sighting. Good luck on finding it. I know if anyone stole mine, they better hide it good, 'cause I would be out for their blood

Check Craigslist in all the surrounding areas. A friends got stolen and he found it there for sale!

Lol, that's how I feel right about now but I definitely have my ownership info with me at all times. If I see it anywhere I am ready to prove it is mine.

That's a great idea. Last night I hit the forums so today I'll start checking Craigslist.

Do you know how it was stolen? I've got a Vino myself and fear sometimes crooks will just haul it onto a trailer.

I hope you find it. The orange is a pretty distinct color for these Ruckus.

Do you even have the VIN number, so you could prove it's yours even if it is found? Many victims don't.

This is such a commonly stolen item now, I suspect the police is giving scooter theft much more than lip service.

Not sure on the trailer thing. Sorry. But yes, short of having a tracking chip in place on my moped I was as prepared for a theft as possible and have all the information, including the VIN, that I would need to identify it.

And I do hope the cops are taking it seriously. From the way they behaved when I was filing the report they couldn't have cared less.
