The Capital Chophouse is near our hotel and always crowded. Any opinions on that one?
Capital City Chophouse is reasonably decent for a chain steakhouse. I've had many business dinners there and have always enjoyed my meal. It's not hugely expensive - certainly not as much as some of the finer steakhouses in the area.
Probably close to your 10 mile limit - But when I see "steak/prime rib" and "not break the bank" I think Outback.
Closest one - Take I540 east to Creedmoor Rd (Rt 50) South. About 2 miles on your left.
The other choices mentioned above are all good, and you shouldn't live here long without at least one trip to the Angus Barn, but they are in what I call "expense account" dining.
We agree that for the price, Outback can certainly be very good. It is one of the few chain restaurants that we voluntarily visut.
Angus Barn has been reserved for a future special occasion.
Tonight's choice did end up being Capital Chophouse. The meat Rib Eye and a nightly special of prime rib). were excellent. Husband is an exbutcher, so he does know his meat.
Wine list was 2.5 to 2.75 above retail, which is excellent for fine dining. But we would have preferred slightly better wine glasses. The sides were fresh but unremarkable. Service was okay, but at these prices, I would hope for better.
If you really want a nice steak, but also tender on the wallet, try Chilli's.
I know, they do Tex-Mex really well, and their queso dip is killer, but the last two times I had a ribeye and baked, they made me "umm" every bite.
Flemings was always a personal favorite in the Phoenix area. Not just for steak - the rest of the menu was very good as well. And the sides were typically outstanding. Thanks for letting me know that they are out here too!
