Default Where does one find rankings of magnet programs?

I've noticed people will say, "such and such magnet is really popular" or "we applied for such and such magnet because it's not as competitive" etc etc. Are people just getting that from word of mouth? Or does WCPSS publish the number of people who apply for each magnet? I've always been curious about that.

They do release the numbers of applications and acceptances at each of the magnets. But I think most people are not looking these numbers up, they are going by word of mouth. Everybody wants to get into Hunter, Ligon & Enloe--it's usually a given that those are generally harder to get into than other magnets.

Yeah, those traditionally have always been tough but I'm curious how people assess the newer programs or if it's all just word of mouth.

IMO, an assessment of the newer programs is probably best made by those who have recently attended the program (word of mouth).

As an FYI, I think the current board has a committee looking into the magnet programs and evaluating which programs would be continued and which would be "de-magnetized".

I found that the blog on WakeEd has been very helpful in gathering first-hand insight on certain schools.
