I need to get about 70 bails of pine needles and 3 yards of pine bark mulch. Anyone know where I can get the best value for my $ and that delivers for free?

You can try Mulch Masters. I am pretty sure they are in N. Raleigh and Apex. Hope this helps.

Wait until November and it'll be all over the ground.

That isn't quite true....if one does not have many pine trees, one isn't going to get many pine needles to rake....certainly not 70 bales...that is a huge amount.

Why do they use pine needles in landscaping? I've never seen that until I came here.

It's available? I never saw it anywhere else either.

We've switched over to hardwood mulch because of our dog's paws (he did get stuck a few times - probably from not being used to them more than anything)...but the pine needles do to a nice job in finishing off a landscape.

I prefer the look of hardwood mulch. The pine needles looks like the people were too lazy to get rid of their pine needles so they just dumped them around their plants.

I was told that the "pine straw" (I was corrected when I said pine needles)
holds in the moisture . .

Pine Straw: Introduction

Check out this link for info on Pine Straw. Mulch attracts termites or can already contain them, it floats away easier in rain and lots of dogs eat mulch. Pine needles let air and water through so they do not float away as often plus it's practically free since it is produced maturally as opposed to mulch that has a more intricate process.

If you do use mulch in your landscaping, termite inspectors will tell you NOT to allow it that close to your foundation as it could come complete WITH TERMITES!!!

I prefer pine STRAW. It has a NC look to it! Its natural.
