I am amazed at how many things can be recycled here under the Triangle area recycling programs. My wife and I are able to recycle so much of our stuff that the remainder of our trash that needs to go to the landfill only ends up filling around 1/4 of our city issued trash can each week. I have even been able to bring an old computer and TV to the Raleigh recycling center. Seems like almost everything can be recycled these days. I don't know if there are many differences between each town's recycling programs, but here are a few links that may be of use to you depending on where you live in the Triangle.
Ask for another one. You can get an extra bin. It would be nice to have one on wheels though! I think you can even use yor own bin if you have something.
Do they charge you separately for recycling? We pay a recycling fee in our monthly town of Cary bill whether we actually recycle or not.
And you don't have to separate anything. Jars, bottles, cans and newspapers can all go in the same bin.
When you live in the county, and not in the city limits (we are in wake forest, but not in the city limits) then we have to order and pay for our recycling separately. It is offered through our trash company, shaw sanitation, but it is an extra cost. So, there are actually people in our neighborhood who do not recycle! It kills me. I keep wanting to tell my neighbor that I will recycle their goods for them, but they would look at me like I was crazy.
The town of wake forest has different items they recycle than shaw sanitation, so whatever I cannot recycle through shaw, I just take to my sister's who is in town limits.
It sure would be nice to have a trash can sized recycle bin on wheels like we had in CA. This little bin is a pain! We do recycle what we can.
I so agree! Back in CA we had three different large size trash cans on wheels each for a different form of recycle. I think that one day Wake county will get there. Afterall recycling is nothing new to CA and way back in the late 70's early 80's when it started out there we had the small bins like we do here. Maybe we need to contact Wake county and request it?
