My long awaited trip is finally here. I had cancelled last month due to Ernesto. I'm flying out early in the morning. I will stay in Cary, but I think I will focus on Wake Forest for a place to live. I don't know if the schools are open there for the Holiday they are closed here in N.J. But I will check, since I'm leaving Sunday afternoonFriday will be the only day to see the schools. It's a short trip. I really can't wait to see what all the talk is about. I don't want to be to excited just in case it's a big let down for me. Hopefully my cousins laptop works in the hotel. I can't wait to post my first thoughts/impression tommorrow night

Wishing you a saf and fun trip!
But, curious, what schools are closed in Jersey, and for what holiday?
My children are in school and I indirectly work for North and Central Jersey public schools ... we're all open!
Well, North Carolinians, we are entering into the most holy time for Jews- Rosh Hashanna & Yom Kippur. My kids are tracked out. I was thinking that if I were Jewish this track would be perfect. The September school schedule in NY is so hectic - you get there teh 1st week of september, they give you a short week, then the 2 long weekends for the Jewish holidays, in & out, I can see haow with tthe tracks the kids are gettign bigger chunks of time fof b/c there are so many fewer months like that.
I was confused by this thread at first...I was thinking "What Holiday? The first day of Fall???" LOL
Thanks for the clarification, NYer. LOL
So some of Wake County's year-round "tracks" coincidentally have their breaks on Jewish holidays?? That's interesting....I'm sure that's useful for them.
But no, startpackin, for the most part, schools in North Carolina do not get out for those holidays. (And neither do state employees...next day we get is Veteran's Day.)
