Thanks, evaofnc....I will have to look harder, perhaps . This is all quite overwhelming!
You may be making it harder on yourself than it needs to be.
Ask your Realtor to put your criteria (# of bedrooms, garage, age of home, price, etc.) within a 30 min. drive of where you and/or your hubby will be working.
Choose homes in those n'hoods to do some drive-bys. TALK TO THE NEIGHBORS so you can see IF you like the n'hood and what their opinions are of the schools.
Once you see what your funds will get you in each area, you'll be able to delete some of the areas.
Once you narrow down the area, you'll be able to narrow down the n'hood. Once you do that, finding a home is easy!
Thanks, Vicki. I know I am totally making it harder than it is, and 6 months from now, I'm hoping to look back and laugh at how stressful this was when everything turns out okay .
I think everyone makes house buying stressful. I know we were completely stressing out over finding a house and we had about a year between when we were looking and when we closed on a house. Looking back I don't know why we were freaking out so much haha.
The main stress comes from the fact that we want to get our kids in school by fall. Our tentative move date is Aug. 11. Not much time, but this relo came out of nowhere for us. Our house in IL has not sold just yet, so we may be renting until it does. STRESS! Thanks, again, evaofnc.
It is stressful and it stays with you! I moved in to my home one year ago, and just this morning I noticed that my head whipped around at the sight of a house for rent. It really was hard to find the right place.
We live in Holly Springs and we bought our 4 bedroom home in 2009 for $175k. We love our subdivision and we have a nice pool (Arbor Creek) but you can definitely find what you are looking for in Holly Springs and the commute to Route 1/Tryon is really short (about 15 minutes).
Embassy Suites Crabtree is a nice hotel too and across the street from the Mall (who doesn't love that?)
We just went on a househunting trip also and stayed at the Embassy Suites Crabtree - good breakfast and indoor pool (so you don't even have to worry about sunscreen It seemed pretty convenient to things in West Raleigh at least - went to Pullen Park one morning and that was fun.
I agree with DJKB. Don't rule out Holly Springs if your husband is working near 1 and Tryon. That is about a 15 minute commute depending on where you live in HS.
Thanks, everyone. Our house hunting trip was a success, and I just wanted to drop back in to write that we chose to stay at the Embassy Suites in Cary, and it was a great choice. Beautiful atrium/lobby, Great breakfast, great rooms, nice staff. I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to stay with kids.
