Default Anniversary Ideas

We're still pretty new to the area and I'd like to know your romantic ideas for our anniversary (in/near Cary). It's coming up in a couple of months, so we still have some time, but I like to plan ahead.

How much are you willing to spend? On our first anniversary we went over to Fearrington House for a gourmet dinner and stayed overnight at the bed and breakfast. My husband loved it so much he wants to go back again next year (that was a little unexpected). The grounds are beautiful and there are small shops and a cafe. The breakfast that is included with the room is delicious. The restaurant they have for dinner is top notch, we did a full 4 course. It was a very rare treat for us. The dining room was romantic, quiet and everyone that came in said they were there for their anniversary.

It would be a little bit of a drive but probably not to far...maybe 40 minutes or so but worth it.

What solarity said. I've done this with my wife on a couple of occasions. It is really nice just walking out of your room and over to the restaurant for the meal, and then back a couple of hours later once it is over. Very expensive, but a wonderful splurge.

Wow, that sounds great! Thanks. And it's not far at all. We're willing to splurge a little bit... but don't want to go too far out of town due to time constraints. Thanks for the info.

We're celebrating our 10th next weekend by renting a cabin out near Jefferson.

We've enjoyed a nice dinner at The Melting Pot (fondue restaurant, something different, never very many if any young children), and taking in a show at Memorial Auditorium. It really depends on what you like to do. We've also headed down to Wilmington (there are dinner cruises on the Intercoastal Waterway--very nice)

I was going to suggest a play too. A good play and a nice dinner always feel special to me.

Don't know how old/young you are, but my husband and I also like to go to Cats Cradle and see a "show" and then stay the night at the Carolina Inn or something. Seems we never get to see live music, drink beer and sleep late anymore (wonder why.....old age, kids???) and doing it reminds us of being young and in love again! To each his own.

You might also consider the new Umstead Hotel in Cary as an alternative to Fearrington. Supposed to be a top notch hotel, with a great spa and restaurant, too!
