I've been to Chubby's, and it's good, but not what I'm looking for. I'm hoping for authentic. (Lengua, Cabeza, Carnitas, etc.) and a lack of well-spoken English.
I know the good ones in Cary, Durham, and Garner, but not in W. Raleigh.
Anything in the Lake Boone, Glenwood, Ebeneezer Church, Duraleigh, Ed's Mill area?
If not, how 'bout some other dive-ass, good eats? Cheap, good, and conducive to impressing like-minded people.
Thanks in advance. (This is for tonight, so hurry please.)
I think the real estate is too high in that area for a true taqueria haha. But seriously if anyone knows I'd be interested as well. I'm tired of going to El Rodeo with my parents when I go visit them on that side of town.
I'm in the process of moving from rural Wake County into Cary proper...so what are the good ones in Cary? Inquiring minds, and all! Thanks!
Thread-jacker!
This:
"My favorite in Cary is Rancho Grande on E. Chatham St."
plus Tarascos just down in the next building is good. I used to like Poncho Villa, but recently both of these blow it away.
And while the food is only so-so, there is Los Tres on Cary Pkwy and 54 for cheap beer specials on Tues, Fri and Saturday. $1.50-$2.00 pints of pretty good beer, friendly service, and free chips and salsa. Hard to beat on a rainy day.
sooooo, back to topic. Pretty much "nada" for the taquiera in W. Raleigh? Anything over on glenwood near Millbrook? Or "elsewhere"
You know those snobby west Raleighites - too good for divey cheap-ass eats (I live in w.r)! Really, nothing divey around the areas you are looking at but we went Fonda y Birreria Jalisco and really liked it. All Mexicans. We got lots of glances while eating. Over on Wake Forest by the WalMart - before it turns into Falls of Neuse.
Another fave - Mami Nora's on Wake Forest (closer to Costco). Sometimes they have tacos as a specialty but the smell of the Peruvian rotisserie chicken makes me salivate each and every time I open the car door. And the fried green plantains are awesome!
Do tell OP - where are good, clean ones in Garner????
