My wife & I decided to move to NC just to escape nyc.We discussed moving for about 3 wks. & then picked Morrisville.Neither of us has a concrete job offer.Crazy?Maybe.I'm pretty sure I have a job starting in Jan.'07,continuing my career as an Umpire but it's not a full-time job.
I left my career as a operations mgr in a data center about 10 yrs ago because I got tired of corporate america.I decided to pursue my lifelong dream of writing the great american novel.I've done some freelance writing for the New York Blues&Jazz Society, writing reviews of new releases, concerts & artist profiles. Not much money, but rewarding to see my name on a byline.
My wife is a professional credit mgr.for a large multi-state construction company. She thinks we're crazy for moving on the fly. It's the biggest risk she's taken in her life(besides marrying me!).
If anyone can help us find a job(s),ex-NY'ers,or just a friendly hello, please let me know.
We are moving into a complex called the Legends at Preston.
Thanks for readind this post.Any help will be appreciated.

I want to be the first one to welcome you to the area. I have lived here for 24 years and relocated from Upper State NY. I love it here and it was the best move of my life. If you need any info on the area while here, don't hesitate to contact me. Just click my name and you will see my website with my contact info. best of luck to you. I do have a website with all the RTP companies. But if you don't want that type of job anymore that might not help you. Well anyway just wanted to send my friendly hello. I'm sure you'll find something in this area.

Regards,

Debbie

Hi Debbie,
Thanks for the hello.Since we have a one yr. lease I don't think we need your professional services right now.If you know anyone in the job placement industry, that info would be great. How old were you when you moved there?Alone? With Parents? What's it like for the over 50 generation, especially people who are too old to rock & roll but too young to die.Just a line from a Jethro Tull song(if u know who he is,then we can talk).Hope to meet you on purpose or by accident. After all,it's not that big a place(compared to NYC).

I am laughing and yes I know who he is. I will be 49 this year. I moved here 24 years ago when my children were 2 and 4. Now they are grown and 26and 28 . No my parents stayed behind in Conn ;-) I would love to meet you when you come to the Raleigh area. If you have any questions just ask. Why did you think I was so young? Have you been on my website? Young at hearet thats for sure, and I sure don't feel like almost 50. 50 year olds are much different than they were many years ago. We stay alot younger longer now. We are definately not too old to Rock and Roll. I am smiling right now. Have an awesome evening. I'm here if you need help.

Best Wishes,
Debbie

Glad your having a good time. You did do that, make me smile thanks. Get used to being called sir. In the south they are just being polite. It has nothing against your age. Have a great day. I know that you will :-)

I am very familiar with the Preston area. I think you made a great choice and you will not regret it. The area is very new and clean. It will certainly be a change for you, but I think you will like it.

I also think you will have no problem finding a job. Don't even worry about it!

Preston also has a very nice golf course if you like to play golf. It is very expensive to join though.

Good luck

Thanks for your post.I know about the golf course. If I could afford the membership fee I'd buy a house!Do you know of a good burger & beer joint where someone could kick back, relax & meet people? Are the indoor smoking laws as DRACONIAN as NYC?I've also heard there's a NEW YORK CLUB for us transplants.Ever heard of it?I've been told it's in the Raleigh area.
Thanks,
DINUNZIO
