It was a huge investment and I'm excited at the results. I figured those who are truly interested in how it performs in the real world would like to know.
It is very interesting. I can easily see how it would become addicting to see the numbers rack up. That's half the reason I have not installed a monitoring system on my panel because I would do the exact same thing. I am a graph nut and would drive myself insane.
Nice job here, OP. I just was just talking with your wife and she pointed me to this thread. I can't believe I didn't know you guys were doing this. We did a 20 panel PV system in December of last year, so we have almost a full year of data now. Would love to geek out with you and compare solar notes sometime. Ours is a 4.7 kW system with REC panels and Enphase inverters.

Definitely...let me get some data under my belt and we'll geek out some time.
I, for one, love seeing the numbers you posted, for the exact reason you said. I am always incredibly curious as to how PV systems work in the real world, specifically this area because of the combination of clouds, sun, etc. Impressive numbers and great job with all the info you have posted!

Ditto. I'm also interested in how much power the dual plane setup produces as my roof is a very similar size/shape/orientation to RDUBiker.
The first 7 days are in - 9am last Friday through 9am today, 9/21/12. It's not great, but considering it was pretty much either dark and rainy or very cloudy from Sunday through yesterday afternoon....can't wait to see what a "normal" week of relative sunshine will produce.
So, what does that represent as a percentage of your total energy usage for the week?
Not sure - monitor is not installed yet so I don't have a good handle of usage. I'm guessing 1/3-1/2. Maybe a tad more but probably not.
