Okay, I just have to laugh at this because all I picture is Kramer's rickshaw pulling/employ the homeless program that he wanted to start on Seinfeld, and with the rickshaw being stolen.
It is up to you, but I never hop off one of those things without giving the guy/gal at least $5 for lugging me and my wife any distance. It is at your discretion but $1/block is probably what many consider a good rul of thumb.

I agree that about $1/block is a good rule to follow. Especially when going uphill.
How much for circling around the same block many times hehehe.....they are pretty dangerous I almost got ran over by one since they were speeding with guests on them trying to have a little fun

And... I saw a help wanted ad for these and it appears the only money they make is whey you "tip" them!!
