Look near NC State and Pullen Park.

Also try the older neighborhoods in Cary and North Raleigh, but that's already a given.
Listen to Tarp, close to downtown Raleigh is great! Glenwood Ave

Anyway I love Cary, and it is one of the places that alot of people want to live in. There is a reason for that. I just say form your own opinions by visiting. Opinions are like.....Everyone has one. :-) I tend to form my own. I do listen to what people say,but don't usually go by that. Someone could have had a bad experience somewhere, and now the whole area is bad. OK Have a great day.

Hi Debbie!
I have another month of paper work then I will no longer be chained to this computer!!!
I think as a Connecticut native you will be interested to know that Stepford wives was based on the southern Connecticut suburban experience...of course it was meant as an indictment of suburbia & the "American Dream" general.
Yet, so many of us seek it!

Older neighborhoods in Cary... well there are a lot of them but try the Scottish Hills neighborhood south of downtown.. It's off Cary Parkway & Helmsdale Drive and the surrounding area. Beautiful tree-lined streets and very quiet. Plus no HOA. Built in the early 1980's, many houses have half acre lots too. Houses go between 160k and 250k.

Default Nantucket! In the same Boat

I moved to the midwest from Nantucket, and we are now thinking about Cary, NC. Did you move to Raleigh- what do you think of it?

Default Cary move

Cost of living here is increasing. Some of the things I found surprising since moving from NJ-taxes on food and clothing, annual taxes on my car and anything else that could be considered a vehicle. Food is not less expensive either. Schools are a disaster compared to northern schools I have had experience with.
So much for the bad.
As far as the good, great weather, some affordble housing still available, lots of amenities in the Cary area. I am a real estate agent now, but I was a teacher when I arrived here 7 years ago. My son has also had the NC school experience
which has included some rather interesting characteristics. But being in the college corridor will make it easy to choose a good placement for his chosen field in computer science. Research Triabgle Park provides many opportunities for employment. Banks are everywhere, so your wife- to- be should find employment here a snap.
