Brier Creek has some upscale townhomes. Not sure what is currently available for sale.

What is the fascination with gates?

Real estate agents on here will be in a better position to recommend townhome communities. The only upscale one I am familiar with in north Raleigh is Westlake Reserve off Leesville Road. Prices around $300K +/-. I'm not sure if that really qualifies as "upscale;" I guess it depends on what your friend is really looking for in terms of price and amenities.

Depends on price range...'upscale' can be broadly defined. What's nice at $250K is vastly different than what's nice at $500K. No gated townhome communities leap into my mind in that specific area.

You have not mentioned a price range. There are some luxury townhomes in Wakefield off Bellstone lane. They are expensive ($500-625k).

Where is your friend from? A lot of people from up North or California ask me for gated communites. You don't find many gated comunites here. Now my daughter lives in The Governors Club which is gated, but high priced as well :-) I lived in North Raleigh for over 20 years and the last in Wake Forest. There are many beautiful townhome communites in the surrounding area. Hook up with an agent that can send you some listings. A price point would be helpful. Too many to mention without that bit of info :-)

If you are considering Cary, there are some very nice upscale townhomes:
McGregor Downs - price around 800K
Tryon Villas - 600K range.

All very beautiful.

Agree. The ones in Amberly are very nice as well (complete with elevator). Lion's Gate at Regency also offers townhomes.

I didn't mention a price range because I don't know how much the best townhomes run..
But I asked for
