Yes! I moved from OH to Cary in 1998 and I noticed way more SAHMs in NC than in OH.

There is a great group, trianglemommies.com that is for moms (and dads for that matter) with little ones through high school. For the little ones, we meet for playgroups, have moms night out, etc.

Lots of moms have joined before moving to the area to get questions answered, figure out where to live, etc

Anyhow, it is worth checking out.

Leigh

Glad they include dad's because here the play groups all consist of women.
Not very many Men. They Call it the MOM"S CLUB which I believe is sexist. I would start a DAD'S CLUB but from what I've seen there wouldn't be too many takers. Now maybe in a bigger city there would be more stay at home men, but not in my town.

A number of the moms in the group feel badly that it is called trianglemommies and would prefer it to be triangle parents, but it is a part of a national organization! There are a handful of dad in the group and the are quite active. I think they also get together for dad's only playgroups................It has certainly made me realize that it is not a mom thing or a dad thing in the way we parent, it is more a who is home with the kids who is not. The mom's may get on a kick talking about "my husband never does ......" and the dad's will chime in and tell us that their wives don't do it either. I think we all have common ground when we are are the primary stay at home parent. There are moms on the board who work full time as well though!
