Default Clayton area ponds/lakes

Just looking for a small, quiet area pond or lake to walk/feed the ducks etc. Nothing with a "fee" or too crowded.

Anywhere in Johnston County. We are near Clayton, in the Cleveland/Polenta area.

THANKS!

Default Good Luck finding one....

There isn't anywhere that you can go that is peaceful. Either your dealing with ski boats, paying a huge fee to lease a lake, most won't allow you around their pond/lake in fear of a law suit if you get hurt.

We have a year pass to Flower's ponds. However, most of the fish have been caught and eaten by someone.

You may want to drive to Raleigh and check out Pullen park's pond.

Hmmm....
I would ask the folks on the 4042 forum. I moved here from Raleigh and I personally feel the best one is Shelley Lake in Raleigh. They have a park, lots of hungry ducks to feed, a boathouse and a very scenic walking path around the lake.

I think there's one in Cary, but not sure where.

her best bet is Shelly or Pullen. Don't waste your time going to Lake Benson. No where for you to access the lake.

Lake Benson is a wonderful park, with dirt trails leading down to the lake. Less than 5 minutes to walk from parking lot to lake and very easy. Shelley Lake is nice but why go all the way up to North Raleigh when there are closer options? I haven't seen many ducks at Lake Benson though. We like to take the kids in to Raleigh to Lake Johnson near NCSU, there are a lot of ducks and geese and swans there and the lake is right there at the parking area, with paved paths. There is also a lake open at the Centennial campus of NCSU. I haven't found anything here yet in the Cleveland area, so if anyone knows of anything closer I would be interested in hearing it too.
