I have read postings from people who live there who love it. I haven't been there yet though. I do know the schools are in johnston county, but it seems that the schools close to the development (or within). I know when wakefield (in north raleigh/wake forest) was started they did the same thing, build the elementary, middle and high school in the neighborhood. Of course now the neighborhood is built out and many of the kids who live in the neighborhood cannot attend the school because it has been redistricted. Anyhow, that may be something to have your agent ask the on site agents!

The other issue to consider is where you will be working (if that is a consideration). Commute time may be a factor depending on where you are working and how long you are comfortable driving.

Just my thoughts.
Leigh

Flowers Plantation is a beautiful area in Clayton. Johnston County schools have really grown in the last few years and their scores are great. You'll get more house and more land for your money in the area. Lots of good shopping, brand new. No mall yet. As for Cary and Apex...there really isn't anything "bad" going on there...just some overcrowding but I still love that area, as well. Sometimes all it takes is a few hours spent in an area to determine if its a fit for you. Vicki

I just moved to Clayton and I love it. The schools have exceeded my expectations. Even though my daughter attends East Clayton which is overcrowded, she only has 15 students in her class. There is a lot of shopping nearby in either Clayton or White OAks in Garner, and of course the outlets in Smithfield are very close. With the 70 bypass coming, I can not imagine a mall would not be built at some point. Flowers Plantation looks nice- I looked in there but the houses in my range were a bit too close together for my liking but there is quite the range in price there. Riverwood is nice too- the part near the school have smaller lots as well and the traffic there in the morning is crazy with everyone driving their kids to school. Riverwood also has another section near the golf course with bigger lots and more money. There is another development underway called Cassedale that looks nice as well- off City Road, larger lots. I am happy with Clayton thus far. Big decision though because it is further out than Apex/Cary . Johnston County is working on a plan for school growth as they expect some spillover from the Wake County parents unhappy with the year round conversions especially if the bond there fails and more schools go year round sooner rather than later. Good luck tih your decision.

Hi Jamieshel88. How are the property taxes and utilities in Clayton. Seems like Apex has very high utilities??

I would think the biggest con about flowers plantation is its location. It is a long ways out from anything. You do have a food lion, but that is it. No harris teeter, no lowes food. You have to drive a good ways for that.

The best thing about flowers plantation is the topography of the land. It is very hilly and green. Tons of hardwoods! It is also the nicest section of Clayton. Just to far out though.

Coming from CA..I've never heard of any of those stores...so I guess what I don't know won't hurt me? Thanks for the info...we are looking for green and hilly and maybe a farmer's type market which I found in the Flowers Plantation website... I'm hoping there are no real big cons to the area....

Hi

Those stores listed are grocery stores. I think there is someone on the board who is living at flowers plantation, but maybe I am wrong. I think that you should at least look at it. For many people the thing that gets them is the commute from there to the research triangle park area (where a number of people who live here work), but if commute is not an issue, then it might not be so bad.

Leigh

Food Lion is your more basic grocery store. They are all over the place. There is usually less to choose from. I would imagine this particular Food Lion would be better than the others though..because of the location.

Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods are much nicer. With higher quality brand foods, and much more to choose from. Mainly meats, wines, beers...etc

Lowes Food is my favorite.

The Flowers Plantation area is really nice though. Just zero shopping, unless you drive along ways....25-30 minutes. The closest stuff is in Garner along hwy 70.
