I know we hear about the occasional bear wandering through the area. And I received a survey from the from the NC Fish and Wildlife commission a couple of years ago about bears. They were seeking public opinion on bears spreading across the state. Supposedly one has been seen in my neighborhood in recent weeks. Just curious if anyone else has seen prints, evidence, a bear, etc in the area around Falls Lake?
Never seen any evidence nor heard anyone speak of bears around Falls Lake. But I've only been living near it since the late 1990s so maybe I don't have enough info yet.
I'm going to go look for the paw prints that supposedly my neighbors family saw on Thanksgiving. As to what my neighbor saw the other morning, I don't know if she mistook a deer for a bear or what to be honest. The deer do darken up quite a bit in the fall/winter. I just saw about 8 of them in my neighbors yard, and their fur is very dark already. Not sure how someone mistakes a deer for a bear, etc.
I know the experts claim that most sightings are just bears passing through the area...like the one that walked all through Leesville/Brier Creek a couple of years ago, or the one that got hit out on Hwy 264 last year. But the survey the state sent me, made it sound like they are spreading from the coast towards the middle of the state. I know a lot of people who have sen them down around Robersonville, Greenville, etc....and that's not very far.
I think I spotted Big Foot on a swim but that's about it . .
