We are looking at a townhome in this neighborhood. It looks like the airport is in close proximity, but from what I was told is that it's not below the flight path so noise shouldn't be bad. I like how close it is to umstead park. Are there any cons of living in this area? We were trying to be in N Raleigh near Creedmoor, but we have not found a home we liked in the price range we want to pay (garage is mandatory). I was in Raleigh over the weekend and the area looks nice to us. I'm looking for pros and cons of not just the neighborhood, but this part of Raleigh in general.

We are also considering Brook Forest Townhomes. It's a little bigger, extra bedroom, and it's the same price. We are just not sure which location would be better. Since I am not in Raleigh I cannot drive to look at it.

I have a relative who lives there. She and her husband love the area, especially the proximity to the park. From what she says, they have a few neighborhood functions a year. The times I have visited, I have not noticed any air traffic noise. She travels fairly regularly, so she appreciates being close to the airport.

Townes of Umstead are nice.........Only thing I don't like about them is there is no pool, club house, or tennis courts. There are several other communities near that area that do have those amenities if you want them. As an agent, I hate to admit this, but I am a bit unfamiliar with Brook Forest........I know where they are, but I have never shown one in there.

Since i'm not in Raleigh yet, I had a friend preview the condo for me and we chose not to go for it. The layout was strange, and the rooms were small. We are now looking at a single family home about 1/2 mile away.
