I have a relative in the Cary, NC area who is interested in getting a medical alert bracelet. Apparently there's no yelp for these companies. Anybody here have any personal experience with any of these services?

Oh if it matters, I'd especially like to hear if someone used CPI's service.

I have known folks who have used Phillips Lifeline and were happy with it. There are other options out there I know but have no experience with them or CPI.

Are you talking about a medical alert bracelet:

or a monitored emergency alert type system?

For a monitored alert system, I've been very happy with Alert One. I have had them set up at both of my grandparents' houses for 3 years. Very good customer service. Quickly replaced a malfunctioning unit last year. And I found the price to be competitive and reasonable. My only recommendations are to use a family member as the first person to call, instead of 911, and make sure to get the lock box.

Thanks for the input. I do mean a monitored medical alert system of the "I've fallen and can't get up variety. what's the purpose or benefit of the lock box?

If they have to summon emergency responders they can provide the code to the lock box so that help can enter the house using the stored key rather than breaking down the door.

Lifeline | Medical Alert Service | Red Cross Greater Lehigh Valley

When I was a home health social worker I referred out Lifeline with the American Red Cross a great deal.
There are so many built in fees that you need to be mindful of and I recall this was the most affordable.

Here's the link.
