Did anyone hear it and know what it is? It just happened 5 mins. ago 7:15 pm. I know it's early to be posting but once anyone knows please share. Several of our neighbors in Reynolds Mill were outside wondering too.

I envisioned a propane tank exploding. Still no clue as to what it was.

Default New Boom

I don't think the noise I heard had anything to do with the loud booms that other Raleigh residents have been experiencing as described in this thread.

Maybe a transformer blowing? Depending on how close you are when it goes it can sound like a cannon going off.

Default Loud booming sounds in Wake Forest

There were 4 extremely loud boom explosions in Wake Forest starting at 3:09pm and the booms continued until 3:55. It was not a local transformer, as I've heard those before. This was different. It was so loud that it startled my gun dogs...and that just has never happened before. Anyone know what it was? Reminded me of an earthquake I was in in California years ago.???? Now it sounds like it is much further away, but is still happening. ??? Not fireworks, MUCH louder.

Tannerite exploding targets. We've had some big ones up here near Youngsville, North of Wake Forest. You'll usually hear the crack of a high-velocity rifle shot, just before the boom. I think there's a bit of "copycat-ism" going on in the area. They'll probably tire of the expense before too long.

Default Explosions

Thanks. The first 2 were extremely loud and then the ones following those were from another more distant location. Hopefully, if they are kids (or adult idiots - , they'll stop. Shakes the ground and rattles me teeth!
