Default Time Warner Cable Channels Missing

I thought I'd see something on this by now, but has anyone else experienced a bunch of missing channels out of their Time Warner cable lineup? Specifically:

VH1 Classic, CMT, OWN, Tru-Tv, Discovery Health, and maybe one or two others?

According to WRAL, TWC is experiencing a Statewide Outage at the moment.

Exclamation You need a digital adapter.

According to a letter I received from TWC dated October 30th, those channels will be delivered in digital format only starting 12/4/12.

These channels will "only be viewable with a digital set-top box, Digital Adapter, or CableCARD. This will not affect any TVs you currently have connected to a digital set-top box."

It also goes on to say if you would like to view these channels on direct-connect analog tv's, you may request a Digi Adapter free of charge through December 2014. Starting in January 2015, the adapter will cost 99c a month. TWC.com/digitaladapter / 1-855-286-1736.

I miss VH1-Classic, but not TruTV where my husband loves to watch countless episodes of "Hardcore Pawn." I'm debating on getting the box. Other channels affected not mentioned above: Golf Channel, Lifetime Movie Network, and C-SPAN

Once again, I feel like TWC takes and takes, and our bills get higher and higher. I'm planning on cancelling soon and hoping retention makes me an offer I can't refuse.

Got mine in the mail last week. They are brand new small Cisco digital adapters that come with hdmi cable, coax, remote and batteries. It took a week for them to work since TWC are a bunch of morons and had the wrong serial number down. I told them this over the phone yet they insisted to send a tech out. The tech was at my house for 15 seconds and called in the correct serial numbers. He was pretty ticked off and said the chat support and phone support at TWC is useless.

The reason for the switch is because they want to move more channels to digital to conserve bandwidth so they can bump up internet speeds and offer more channels.

I'll be returning them Dec 2014.

I have a TV connected directly with coax. I did a rescan and it reported 60 analog and 30 digital channels. There are some weird channels like RF123-1, 100-104 (labeled CDL_CIS) and 100-164 (labeled Mystro). 5-1 still shows as WRAL-HD, but looks to be the 5.2 channel. I no longer have 11-1 or 50-1. WTF??

The digital over-the-air channels e.g. 5.1, 11.1, 50.1, etc. have nothing to do with TWC. You will still receive those channels if you were to disconnect the coax from your set. I'm not sure why but sometimes the station will reset their channels causing the tv to loose programming. If you were to reprogram or "auto find" channels the set will pick them up again.

The boxes are free for the next two years. After that, they're 99 cents per month.

You will need to upgrade your service to get your channels back. More deletions are coming (per Customer Relations at TWC).
The program is to scramble basic tier channels a few at a time. You will need to rent a descrambler for each TV you own to see the channels. Or, as many are being told, you can go to an HD level service - and no channels are scrambled. Plan on about 50 Bucks a month more (read $600/year) - to see those channels you listed - plus the off air (free) ones.
ABC 11 TV is doing a piece on this very issue in the next day or so. Watch for it (Troubleshooter)
People still know TWC is the worst in the industry. They have a bad image, they need to lower prices, improve customer service, and offer more then their competitors.

Thanks for the information. Since our cable is provided by the apartment complex we didn't receive any notifications regarding those channels. They just went blank one day.
