Personally, if I were in your situation, I'd want to go to some place downtown, like Bosphorus (both prior mentions in this thread mis-spelled it, but it is definitely "Bosphorus") or Serendipity. I also really like Klara's, although I know that not everybody does. Or have you been to E.J.'s yet? It's new, but I like that place a lot. That kind of Southern/"soul food" is not for everyone, but it's really good if you and your friend are into that sort of thing. The atmosphere there is nice, too. Friendly and comfortable and fairly casual, yet still feels special. You might like it.

I believe E.J.'s is closed.

Oh, I was just there a month or so ago. Dang. Never mind, then. Anyway, Bosphorus and the others are definitely good choices also.

Yeah, it's kinda splitting hairs, obviously, but I thought it was worth giving the name of the place as it appears on its sign. But it is confusing. I don't know about you, but I grew up in school learning the name of the strait in Turkey as "Bosporus," but nowadays I think you do see it spelled more commonly with the "ph" instead. And I'm pretty sure that the name of the strait is pronounced in Greek with a "p"-sound in the middle and not an "f"-sound. I don't know how it's pronounced in Turkish. Nevertheless, in any case, the excellent little Mediterranean restaurant on Harrison Avenue in Cary is definitely "Bosphorus." And definitely worth checking out.

That's a shame to hear. I kept wanting to check it out but they had the strangest hours.

I second Serendipity. Some of the best sandwiches around and they use Neomonde bread!

Hehehe. I have a Master's in English and I almost had one in history. Don't get me started.

I do love Turkish food, though.

Thanks a million for all the suggestions. Going to try out Bosphorus this week. Had no idea it even existed.

Fresca Cafe looks wonderful as well.

I get so tired of driving to Durham for a good meal.
