Goodnight, Raleigh!, but I've been busy and didn't see it until earlier today. Wow! I of course had read the stories last week about the building at Wilmington and Martin in downtown Raleigh that had to be closed due to structural cracking in the façade. And I was startled on Thursday or Friday when I was riding my bike down Martin Street past there and saw that the whole front of the building had collapsed or been demolished. But I didn't know the story behind it, and didn't think about its connection to the past, present, and future of the landmark blocks of old storefront buildings in that part of South Wilmington Street. Just remarkable. Kinda sad, but very interesting, I think. Enjoy!
