Hi All,

As I collect items for a cold antipasto salad for Christmas Eve I find myself missing pickled eggplant, mushrooms, and stuffed peppers w prosciutto and cheeses. Does anyone know of an Italian store or deli near Raleigh that carries this stuff?

Hope so! Thx

You might try Capri Flavors in Morrisville.

On a similar note, does anyone know of a bakery that sells those Italian butter cookies? The long sandwich ones with jelly and usually dipped in chocolate and sprinkles on one end? And have slight almond flavor?

Oh Italian butter cookies, how I love you.

I was able to get them in Wilmington at an Italian market (they had them shipped from Brooklyn) but haven't found them here.

If someone has the definitive recipe and is willing to share, that'll work too.

Apricot jelly filling, dipped in dark chocolate with sprinkles - the purest of awesome Italian cookies, are being imported from a NY/NJ bakery at Harris Teeter. The one in Holly Springs, anyway. 3 Boys Bakery? Boys Bakery? Sons Bakery? Can't remember the name of the company but there was a stack of them just the other day, exactly as you described just next to the open salad bar.

I happen to be missing rainbow cookies myself - too lazy to make them this year.

Really! I may need to drive to Holly Springs today - THANKS! Can't rep you, must spread around. Those aren't at my Harris Teeter I don't believe (Durham) but I WILL find them.

Next time any Italian cookie lovers are in Wilmington, drop by Martino's deli - they have them - and a ton of other things. Wish I could remember the name of the bakery they get them from. Though they're shipped, they're incredibly fresh.

Sometimes NYBD in Cary makes them. Usually around the holidays. Maybe try giving them a call and see if they are currently making them. I forget if they'll be open tomorrow or not.

Got them at my local HT today - and they were two for the price of one with a VIC. SCORE!
