Leave plenty of time because they open up lots once the main lots fill up - which may mean you won't know exactly where you're going or have to take a shuttle bus instead of walking from your car.
I would call Park Ride and Relax. THey are SO MUCH BETTER Than RDU parking, and cheaper too. (with that being the case, I can't imagine there'd be any problem finding a space at RDU, why would anyone park there?)
There were plenty of spots in Park & Ride lot 4 on Sunday afternoon when I was there.
I called that number. It is a recording with options for everything except status of the parking lots. The business office is only open 8-5, and we will be there before 8.

Good luck!
We were not going to park in the terminal. That is $12/day. We were going to park in the shuttle lots (lots 3 and 4), which are $6/day.

I called them yesterday. They are already full and are just doing valet parking. Not sure how much that costs.

I pay 17/month for an unlimited pass at RDU, why would anyone pay $5-$6/day to park elsewhere?

Because I don't travel enough to justify $17 a month. THat would require about 40 (approx) days per year on travel, and it would lock you into RDU. (Not sure if that's in the deck or remote. If it's remote, it's worth more to pay to park at fastpark, their service is THAT much better. I'll likely never do RDU Remote parking again, ever, but I do occasionally park in the deck on a 1-night trip.)
But to each there own. There are luckily many choices.

I love Fast Park & Relax off of Lumley Rd and will park there 80% of the time I travel. 5% of the time is Christmas/Thanksgiving, and they ALWAYS fill up then (as noted above) so I use RDU Long-Term. The other 15% of the time I am running late or returning late at night and go to the daily garage.
If you work for a large employer, see if Fast Park & Relax has an employee program available -- we have one through my employer, a large university/healthcare system, that gets me about 30% off the regular rate, which itself is quite good.
