The owner didn't appear to be so sad about the place burning down did he? He has insurance anyway. He'll rebuild bigger and better next time...if he decides to

We all raise money for very good causes. But we also raise money for various things that aren't very serious.

If we count all the money that we spend on things like girl scout cookies instead of feeding the homeless, the number would be staggering.

When a business like a restaurant burns down, fundraisers are usually set up to help pay all the out of work servers until the restaurant reopens.

All employees will be temporarily working at other affiliated restaurants in the Raleigh area including Hibernian in Cary and Solas a few doors down on Glenwood. Yet others will work at the new North Raleigh Hibernian when it opens in a month or so.
I read that a bartender is already working at Solas and some of his patrons followed him there.

You can give your money to whatever cause your heart desires and everyone else can do the same.

Before rebuilding the Glenwood location, he should think about refurbishing the Cary location. The inside of that place is disgusting. Everything is dusty and dirty.

According to the press release they sent out:

"The company requests that those offering to help can do so by supporting Hibernian’s key charities, St. Baldricks’s Foundation and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Hanley personally requests, “We appreciate all the offers of fundraising and donations for the pub, but if you really want to help us please donate to our two favorite charities or shave your head for pediatric cancer.”

That is fantastic. Not only does the money go to a worthwhile cause but it makes the people who wanted to donate money to rebuild a bar look like complete idiots. I wish the owner would have collected all of the money before announcing his intentions for directed the funds. I willing to wager the donations will drop off sharply now.
