Are there theaters in the Triangle area that feature second-run movies at discounted admission?

^^ This. You can't really beat the $2 price if you want to see a movie in the theater. It can be a little crazy with people / kids, but it is a decent enough place.

Another fun option, not in Raleigh, it's a little bit of a drive but worth it is to go to the drive in. They have carload deals in the off season (they are closed til March right now) and are still a great deal in the summer season. http://www.raleighroaddrivein.com/

Ask for the managers special on Tuesdays at Blue Ridge to also get cheap popcorn and soda!

And on top of that they aren't second-run! Great place to go out and see some first-run films and they usually do double-features.

And I'd avoid it on weekend nights, due to "shadier" crowds (rough-looking teens, etc) but for matinees it is great.
