Anyone moved/moving to the Martha Stewart KB Homes in Morrisville?
We have been looking online at all the new construction in the Raleigh/Cary area and the Martha Stewart homes so far, appeal to us the most?
I have researched all over to get a more candid opinion of them - anyone have an opinion on them?
Is it family-oriented?
Are the homes as great looking in person as they are online?
Please - give me some scoop!

Hi
I have taken a couple of clients out there, one liked it quite a bit, the other did not. I will give you their impressions:
The one who liked it:
Loved the location, felt like it was convenient to many ammenities in the area
Very happy with the school system, was happy it was a new community
After walking around there (the sales office is continually busy!, she felt like it would definitely be a family oriented neighborhood (based on what she saw)
She loved the style of the homes, and the amount of upgrades that could be done to the homes
She felt they would have a great increase in value because they were getting into the neighborhood at the beginning instead of at the end
She liked that each driveway is stamped concrete and sod and irrigation systems are standard
The one who did not like it:
Although she like the location, and the schools, she didn't like that the houses were so close together
She didn't necessarily want to live through 2 years of construction
She felt like in order to have the house they way she wanted it, she would end up spending a good deal in upgrades
For me, as a broker, the neighborhood reminded me of many in the area, and yes the houses were close together, but that for many people is not bothersome. I have friends who moved into kitts creek (very close to twin lakes) and it is in the same situation, the houses are close together. My friends love it because the club house, pool (completed next summer) and playground are in the center of the neighborhood, and there are tons of families there as well.
Hope this helps.
Leigh

Thanks Leigh!
Thank you so much for that insight! We are coming out next weekend to look at the different communities as my husband has interviews on Friday.
We don't mind the homes being close together as long as the neighbors are nice!!!
I like the sound of the playground and pools and I've picked up tennis again recently and I think they have tennis courts as well.
I appreciate the quick response!
We're the inventory homes upgraded sufficiently? We'll end up getting an inventory home if we decide to move forward.

The Martha Stewart homes will definately impress you, but just remember thats not how you get them. They are LOADED with upgrades. You need to see a KB home just as is with no upgrades before making that decision. Unless you can get it with all those upgrades. Then I say do it, it is pretty. They are very close, but they're will be alot of families in there, and lots of children if thats what your looking for. Good luck to you.
Regards,
Debbie

I have to agree with Debbie, the models are impressive, but I wondered how much those upgrades were! But I would have to say that for almost any community, the models are impressive, and when you go in the spec houses, they tend to not be quite as nice. But, you should go through them with a keen eye, take a pad and pen with you and mark down the items you love and "have to have" in your home. Then back to the sales center and see how much the upgrades would be. There are things you can do on your own (paint for instance), but you may want to upgrade the floors and the countertops for instance! One of the models had these gorgeous black floors and then has black carpet up the stairs, it looked cool but I kept thinking, you would see everything on this! My last two homes had white tile in the bathrooms and I vowed to never have white tile again, so it is all a preferance thing!
So, definitely look at them. There are things in the models I like, some of the floor plans I didn't like, but it is all up to you!
Also, the neighborhood is close to parks that have tennis courts and leagues.
Good luck
Leigh

I like the Martha Stewart ranch model. Leigh did you see the stone floor in that master bedroom? It was soooo nice. I loved that model. How you could go from the bedroom back to the kitchen. I would have to have that model just as it is. I wouldn't want it any other way. Have a great day. Off to the Lion King tonight YAY!

KB Homes
OK, now I am in total suspense! They sound amazing!
Any other new construction neighborhoods you'd recommend for families with little kids? same price range?

From last I checked in that area, there are a number of new neighborhoods going up, kitts creek is one of them, which is close by to twin lakes. Also there is addison park and cameron pond in the same area.
Are you working with a realtor? If so, you should have them go with you to the neighborhoods. If you don't and you are just searching around, just remember that the sales agents at these locations are representing the seller, not you! Most of them will want you to fill out a registration form and prefer that you come with your own agent. Those are just my suggestions!
Have fun!

Hi!
I just moved to Cary from NJ and am renting a house for 9 mos while we look to buy. I have looked at Twin Lakes four times already because I just LOVED, LOVED, LOVED them. However...I knew the models were maxed out with options and I really needed to see a home without the gorgeous furniture and with just a reasonable amount of upgrades. Well I finally got my wish yesterday and I HATED it. I was devastated actually because I really thought that is where we would end up buying. I saw a new home that was just being finished being built with approx $60K in upgrades and it was practically empty! I was really shocked and disappointed but it finally opened my mind up to other communities. I also did not like the plane noise right overhead and when I asked what was going to be built right behind the house, it was a major airport highway!
I also received an updated pricelist yesterday and they have dropped their prices by $30K since July!
I went to look at the Kitts Creek community but I did not like the layouts of the houses--it sort of felt like a townhouse layout to me.
Good luck and hope that helps some!
Taryn

We are paying about 20K in upgrades on out home- we loved the site & development. I would say that almost all the models are "tricked out"
...However in Heritage (we didn't buy there) they do show you empty houses just as you would get them- the prices are high but seems to be less surprises.
We didn't go there b/c they seem to be at the end of the development, the choicer areas are sold out, & the lots are smaller & more cleared of trees than in the earlier sections. Still a nice place though.
