Somebody needs to come in here and knock TWC off their throne. I will be first in line for fiber internet. Heck I will dig the trenches for the fiber optics.

Yes, I was told yesterday by their customer service that they understood that I didn't have one of their modems, but since their files said I did, I would have to either pay for it or physically go to their warehouse and convince the employees there to search their inventory for the modem. If it wasn't found, I would have to pay.
I'm currently (again) searching for other providers.

Modems can get old and just stop working too. How old is the hardware TWC started charging to lease to you?

Fyi, NewEgg is selling the SB5101U for $49 now - with shipping and tax you will break even in under a year if you buy the modem and stop paying TWC the ridiculous $4/mo lease fee.
