Hi there,

I'm a male physical education teacher, 50, single/straight thinking of relocating to the area to continue teaching for another 10 years. I'm an outdoors person who also enjoys the cultural things in life, music fine dining, the arts. Any comments positive/ negative would be appreciated in what to expect of what the area is all about and also the dating scenario for my age group. I plan on visiting for 4 days next month so what suggestions do you have to check out the area of Raleigh /Carey and there about. Thanks for your time and comments !!

I don't think you'd have any problem at all.

Let me introduce you to my friend your age, who is a personal trainer.

Take a look at Meetup.com for Raleigh to see the singles groups (some are for everyone) and activities.

Check out Wake County Public School System -- the Wake County school system, which includes Raleigh, Cary, and surrounding area. There have been teacher hiring freezes.

I'm the same age as you, also single, and I grew up in CT but haven't lived there for a long time. Right now, I really can't imagine living anywhere else. As far as the dating scene, well, it's tough. Most other single guys I know who are also around the same age aren't doing much better either. I guess that just comes with being this age.
