There used to be a backpacking & fly fishing outfitter in Raleigh run by a very nice guy named Charles Toney. I first knew this store in the mid-90s when it was located in a shopping center at the intersection of Six Forks Rd & Sawmill Rd. The store moved to Ridgewood Shopping Center (Ridge & Wade) sometime in the late-90s before eventually closing shop. I spent a lot of time and money in this place but I cannot for the life of me remember the name of his store...anyone else remember this place and the store's name???

Apparently (according to LinkedIn), Charles Toney is still around and now owns a different service/shop called TimeLine Lock Service and Restoration in the area.

Excellent find...thank you for jogging my memory bank! Charles Toney was a great guy and a fantastic retail store owner. I don't doubt the comment that he knew 80% of customers by name. He knew more than that...he knew what we were into and they types of gear we liked. I miss the personal touch that came with shopping at his store, but the big-box and online competition makes it tough for guys like this to stay open.
