In CA I spent a lot of time searching for the best rates and after trying AAA, Geico, Progressive, etc, I found the best rate with a CA-specific company that had a great reputation.

For NC, I've called Progressive and Geico so far and Progressive is TWICE as expensive as Geico for the same duration and coverage.

What have you folks found in your searches for the best rates relative to your coverage selections?

I used Metlife when we moved here from FL but I switched to Geico which was about 30% cheaper. I've heard people say Geico is great until you have an accident, but I actually had one with them almost 5 years ago when we were in VA and they were great and didn't raise our rates.

I just switched to Geico from Allstate. I will be saving close to $300 a year by switching.

I was with State Farm. Prompted by bad customer service I researched other companies. I found USAA had amazing rates and excellent reviews. I switched carriers and so far I have been satisfied.

The caveat is that to join USAA you need a connection to the United States military. If interested you can determine eligibility at their website https://www.usaa.com/inet/ent_utils/...er_eligibility.

Another vote for USAA. They crushed everyone in rates and service. LUV 'EM!

I found Farm Bureau to beat others 90% of the time esp. if you bundle homeowners insurance with the car insurance

MetLife can be a bit above some but not too much.

Have had them 13 years with great service on questions and 1 claim.

I got dumped by my insurance company after about 25 years. Seems if you have 3 claims without 5 years, you are dumped!

When they dumped my house, I dumped them and took away my car insurance.

We went to Farm Bureau for home and car and the rates were even lower than what we had been paying.
