I am (once again) looking at moving to NC. My daughters are there and I miss them terribly. Now that the economy seems to be picking up a bit, I'm looking at a relo to Raleigh or maybe Chapel Hill if I can swing it.

One question: Will my Cowboy ways get the arched eyebrows? There's enough of us here, that if we're paid any attention, it's usually a smile and a pleasant nod. I know NC isn't cattle country, so just curious if I'm going to making a spectacle of myself in my comfortable wear, which is usually my hat, boots, jeans, and checkered shirt.

I don't know if you are a man or woman, but if you are a nice looking man in hat, boots & jeans then
my arched eyebrows would be a flirt

Why does it matter what others think about what you wear that you are comfortable in? Be who you are and wear what you want and let them stare.

Reps for you! I couldn't agree more!

You are who you are and I'm sure you're fabulous in your hat and boots!

Nah. No problemo. People will just think you've come into town from out in the country. We got our share of western wear here, too. Where you from, pardner?

Also, plenty of cattle in NC, both dairy and beef. Just not right in Raleigh, so much. Lots and lotsa hogs, too.

Well, if y'all are that curious, my pic is in my profile and I'm duded up.

Thanks for the responses. To answer one of the questions: I'm not concerned with what other people think of me, but if I'm going to get stared at and questioned, I like to know in advance! You should see the looks when I'm in Miami on business! Ha!

Thanks again. Sending you some reps for your quick and kind responses.

Oh, man. When I saw this thread on the list, I swear for a second I thought the title was "Would My Hat and Boobs Get Me Stares?" My immediate reaction was that, well, if you have to ask... But now I see I was mistaken. Yeesh!

Anyhow, buckaroo, in answer to your question, yes, it's possible that your outfit will attract some stares (a mix of appreciative, bewildered, and maybe a little Brokeback) in some parts of the Triangle, but as others have said, so what. On the other hand, if you go walking around the N.C. State campus area dressed like that, they're liable to give you a diploma.

PS Mike - spurs and chaps are for bronc riding! You'd be hard pressed to find me decked in those at the market! Could be fun, tho, I suppose!
