Place to take household goods donations
Hello all!
I have been going through all of our "stuff," and we have quite a bit extra! I'd love to donate the items somewhere the items could find a second life. I have tons of girls clothing in good to excellent condition (I have four girls, and they are easy on their clothing , toys, kitchen items... Maybe a shelter?
I live in Wake Forest and would really prefer if I didn't have to drive super-far, but if that is the right answer I am willing to travel!

You can try the GCF Store. It's in the Wakefield Commons Shopping Center (New Falls of Neuse Road) in Wake Forest. I don't have any firsthand experience with them however they do seem to provide valuable services to the community.
Here is a link to their site:

Thanks!
I'll pack up the 'ole minivan, and head to these two spots... I'll let you know if I receive any good information or tips in the process!

The Vietnam Veterans of American will come to your house & pick up all of your stuff. All you have to do is call them. You have to leave the stuff outside like on a porch or something.
Here's a link Clothing Donations.org
I believe the Salvation Army will also come pick up your donations. Again all you have to do is call them to schedule it.
ETA: I have heard that GCF is pretty picky about what they will take.
Good luck!

Salvation Army won't come to me!
Back home I always used to call 1-800 SA Truck for a donation pick-up. I tried, but was told that there is no truck servicing 27587... Just an FYI for any of you other closet-cleaners out there

I also noticed that there is also no SA thrift shops here. But it looks like there are a lot of other great places to donate.

Check the website for United Way of Wake County: there's a list of several charitable organizations that need goods (for example, the women's shelter needs women's and children's clothing, a nursery/pre-school needs all sorts of help, and so on. )
It's a bit more effort to take your goods to several places, but they'll do more good that being given to Goodwill, which is "everyone's" dumping ground.

North Raleigh Ministries next to Tuesday Morning on Spring Forest Rd near Atlantic Ave is very worthy.
They operate Mon-Sat 10AM - 2PM. Closed Sunday.
Benevolence ministry and food pantry in addition to thrift shop.

Try Habitat for Humanity's ReStore
Habitat For Humanity of Wake County - "Building Hope in Wake"
If you have a lot of stuff, either their location, or the one in Durham will pick up.
