Hello everyone,
I'm having trouble breaking out of retail and would like to get some more professional experience for my resume. Any suggestions for non-profits or other volunteer opportunities in administrative or office positions? Preferably something in Raleigh.
Try the hospitals...there is usually some area of the facility that is needing help. Also, look at places like newspapers, ( mainstream and otherwise).
You might also check with the local school systems and your church...its surprising what they need.
If you have a talent and would be available for part time work, ask at the local rec center and/ or community college to see if there is a need for an instructor in your field of interest.
Some of these suggestions may seem off the wall for administrative work, but they all have elements that would transfer to that type of job and any of these types of facilities can use volunteers.
I got out of retail and into secretarial work by starting out as a temp. After a few months of temp work I had a FT position.
