Has anyone signed up for Digital access to the N&O (through Press+)? Initially, digital was an additional charge, but from the information below, it looks like it is now no-charge for print subscribers. I didn't want to sign up if they were later going to come back and charge me for it.

Google Chrome, right click on subscription popup / translucent background, inspect elements, change CSS properties to hidden (none), and then read article. Free words!

Horribly implemented paywall.

It's included with your print subscription. If you haven't had to renew your subscription since they implemented the digital edition around the beginning of the year, then when you do renew, you will notice a price increase. So it looks free, but that's only because they raised the price. But they won't come back and charge you for it. And I don't think you can now get the print edition without the digital access. At least I don't see that option.

I've signed up for the digital access. I only get the paper on the weekends. so I can read it digitally through out the week.

Has this changed? When they introduced it, they allowed you to opt out (which I did).

Now that you mention it, I do remember that you could opt out of it. I don't know if you still can (if you haven't already). At least its not obvious on the website.

We were skeptical about digital access (the e-edition) at first, but we came to like it so much that we pulled the plug on print delivery.

I was able to opt out when I signed up in February - we only want the Sunday paper for the coupons, so they eliminated the digital access and it did bring the price down. Not sure if that is possible with 7 days/week but I know it works for Sundays only!

Just read N&O in incognito/private mode on your browser. Also works for the Charlotte Observer.
