Default 45 min drive from Wake Forest to Spring Forest Rd?!

My husband and I just signed a contract for a house in Wake Forest near the Hwy 98 exit and Capital Blvd. and my sister (who works next door to where my husband works off Spring Forest Rd in Raleigh) said her supervisor lives in the same development and it takes her 45 minutes to get to work driving down Capital Blvd. We just sold a house in Zebulon hoping to get a little closer to our jobs and save some drive time and now I'm wondering if we made the right decision or if we should have stuck with Raleigh/Knightdale. Anyone found a way that takes less time? We mapped it on mapquest and it looks like an alternate route to take is Old 98 to Falls of the Neuse Rd to 540 to Capital although it's probably a little out of the way but maybe not as much traffic?

Falls of Neuse may be worst since it's only two lane until Raven Ridge. 98 to 401 may be a better route but I'm not sure.

Hi there. I live in Wakefield which is pretty close to 98/Capital Blvd. I get my haircut at a salon which is on Spring Forest. I just hop on Falls of Neuse and it takes me about 15-20 minutes tops to get to Spring Forest. I think you could add another 5 minutes to the trip since you're coming from 98--you're probably looking at 25 minutes to get to Spring Forest/Falls of Neuse. Hope this helps.

IMO the Falls of Neuse route is more scenic than Capital Blvd, too!

xochousewife,

What time of the day do you drive Falls of Neuse from Wakfield to Spring Forest Road? I don't think people in Wakefield doing the 7-8am morning commute can make that in 15-20 minutes. Driving Falls of Neuse during non rush hour times is WORLDS APART from what you will experience in the typical morning and evening commute times. Driving from Wake Forest Down Falls of Neuse during morning Rush hour traffic will remind you of a congo line starting at about Wakefield High.

Just my observations from what I see every day. I am just glad I live below wakefield and can avoid the backup by taking a back way through falls river!

When Purchasing a Home in N. Raleigh or Wake Forest and planning on commuting to work I encourage everybody to do test drives during their typical commute times. Some of the routes are very deceiving and travel times can vary greatly depending on your specific route and time you plan to travel!!

NRG is right on.

I moved my commute time by Wakefield to 6am and have no problem at all getting to Rt 540 other than an occasion deer or two. I come back before 4:30 PM and its not bad at all. I can't speak for the traffic from Rt 540 to Spring Forest as I don't travel that route.

I know if you travel times are flexible you should not have a commute problem.

Unless you're buying a house, sight-unseen, you should always scout the commute to work, schools, daycares and hospitals. Especially during the times of day that you'd be doing the commute.

Crazy concept. I know.
