My family is contemplating a move to the area. I stay at home with the kids and my partner would be moving into a work from home position, so we are open to any area, which is both great and overwhelming. I'd like to start with discovering a few neighborhoods that are on the greenways system. Ideally, my house would back up to it, but a short walk through the neighborhood to get to it would be fine too. Are there any neighborhoods on the greenway in the <$250,000 range? Thanks for any input.

Cary has an incredibly extensive greenway/trail system. Here's a map

Durham has the American Tobacco Trail as its signature system

Triangle Rails to Trails

Raleigh has a rapidly gowing and extensive system as well

We just looked at a house in Durant Trails in North Raleigh that backed up to the Greenway near Durant Nature Park

Highlands is another neighborhood, probably <$200k, smaller houses. (easy walk to the 2 mile trail around Apex Community Park, but to be honest, it's about a 2-mile bike ride to get really connected into some of the major, more functional greenways.)

Kildaire Farms has an extensive private greenway system that also connects with the city greenway system. We love going for walks on our greenways!
