Alright, I know that is probably too loaded a word, but I'm irritated. I've noticed over and over again deals on sites like Living Social, Groupon and Twongo that Durham will be excluded from companies' work zones. House cleaning, mosquito treatment, carpet cleaning, house repairs, etc.
I don't really blame the deal sites, more the companies. But when I'm signed up to get newsletters for deals for my area and I'm excluded from all the ones I'm interested in, it gets tiresome.
This one might be more geographic in nature: "Service area includes: Cary, Apex, Morrisville, Raleigh, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Clayton, and Knightdale." (I'm so close to Morrisville -- 5 minute drive.)
But I've seen deals that included Cary, Apex, Morrisville and Chapel Hill -- but not Durham. Perhaps some of these businesses do have experience that Durham residents don't as often become higher paying repeat customers ... but I'm sure some people would.
Has anyone else noticed this? Am I being overly Durham-defensive/paranoid?
You're being somewhat paranoid. I think that most of these businesses are just aiming for the places where they believe they will find the most clients. I'm sure that if you called them from an address that was convienient for them, they would not mind that you are in Durham. A good chunk of RTP is in Durham. They work out there, yanno.
