There's a new road being built right off of Carpenter Fire Station Rd - very close to the fire station. Any idea what this new road is for and where it is headed? Thanks!
It's going to be Highcroft Drive; which for NOW will ONLY take you into the Cameron Pond subdivision.
It will eventually run parallel to Hwy 55 & run all the way to Greenhope School Rd., where it will connect to the Highcroft subdivision. There are also plans for Highcroft Dr. to cross Carpenter Firestation Rd & connect to the stub that already exists off of McCrimmon Pkwy.
The park land, that was dedicated by the developer of Cameron Pond to the town, was only deeded over to the town about 1 &1/2 yrs ago, although the development is 7+ yrs old. Its not even on the towns radar yet. Sadly, most of our kids will be in college by the time this park is developed.
Usually they deed property for parks as part of efforts to win approval for a development, either due to municipal regulations calling for certain percentages to be set aside or voluntarily. Of course having parks in or near a development also makes it more attractive to buyers as well. (at least it usually does)

But, Cameron Pond started construction over 8 years ago. Why wasn't the landed deeded back then?

Would have to know the history. May have been an agreement in place but was not done till recently or a bond was in place to cover the future land deeding. I know construction is still going on there. Maybe it's an area that was more recently opened. Who knows.

I think you're onto something, as I believe it was this green space that may have helped with the approval of our development.
It was also a great selling point, however, with the amount of time it is taking many original owners will be long gone by the time its a park.

I'm thinking the developer wasn't counting on the housing crash hitting before CP was built out and the tree buffer got ripped down, either. Probably intended to be done building by 2008 and give up the land early enough that the park would be done already.
